Seminar-training with a Professor from the UK was held in the law Institute of SFU
February 15-16 2016, in the Law Institute of SFU a seminar on professional development of teachers «Training lawyers in the UK. The case method in the training of lawyers» was held. The main speaker was the Professor of Coventry University Stuart Weinstein. World famous specialist, an expert in the field of legal risks of transactions with securities and derivatives, a brilliant lecturer with a great sense of humor, who knows all the details of UK and USA educational processes and legal systems. Professor has consistently held attention of the audience throughout two days of this interesting seminar and answered many questions. S. Weinstein demonstrated a simulation game on case studies with Comparative Law Department’ students during one of the seminar’s modules. Dasha Ushakova, Kapelina Alena, Dasha Kazachkova, Maxim Grebnev and Irina Rykovanova showed the ability not only to analyze text of the courts’ decision, but also public English speaking skills. The course participants appreciated this part of the seminar as well. Professional translation from English, carried out by the assistant of the labor and environmental law Department Marina Viktorovna Lomaeva deserves to be mentioned.
