The competition is timed to coincide with the 45th anniversary of the signing of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, as well as the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the formation of the UN Human Rights Council. The event aimed to attract Russian students to research and study human rights issues in Russia and the whole world. The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is an advocacy competition for law students. It is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations. Teams of law students compete against one another through the presentation of oral and written pleadings to address timely issues of public international law in the context of a hypothetical legal dispute between nations. The Moscow State Institute of International Relations organized the first case championship in Russia for law students "MGIMO Law Championship" on March 2. The team from SibFU Law School was presented by the first-year master students: Anastasia Burnakina, Svetlana Fomina, and Ekaterina Kalinina in the direction of "International Public Law".
