Anti-corruption Student Club’s sessions in March

hSePGzJAkuI_cd132.jpgMarch turned out to be quite productive for the members of Anti-corruption Student Club (further ASC) of SFU. After the Day of a Young Elector, several educational meetings with the representatives of law-enforcing bodies were conducted.

On the 15th of May, 2017 Victor Victorovich Semenov became our first guest. He is an assistant of the head of the Second administration – the head of the First investigative department of the Second administration on investigation of especially urgent cases (of crimes against state power and in economic sphere).

Victor Victorovich told about his personal experience in Investigative Committee and about the most memorable cases of corruption crimes. The students in their turn did not show indifference and after the stories continued to ask a lot of questions. Due to the fact that there were lots of students from various universities, the questions were rather diverse.

Obviously, many questions concerning the fact if we can eliminate corruption arose. But our guest answered that it is impossible to fully eliminate corruption, however we are able to reduce the level of corruption to socially acceptable.

He is an assistant of Krasnoyarsk Investigative department on vehicles, Western-Siberian Investigative department on vehicles of Investigative Committee of Russian Federation.

After a short story about his profession, Dmitry Anatolievich noted that the majority of the cases that he investigated constituted plane crashes and crimes in the sphere of corruption. Sometimes for a proper investigation it is vital to examine some peculiarities in functioning of one or another vehicle, which can help to determine some necessary facts for investigation.

Once again the students showed genuine concern for the stories of our guest.

Such meetings are quite useful for the students, they also involve the element of career guidance. Within the topic of the meeting the guests tell about peculiarities of one particular body and about the difficulties that such officers face every day. After talking to people who deal with practice and not a theory, the students find it easier to decide which job to take up in the future.

And always remember – corruption will remain if you do not care!
