Students of SibFU Law School took second place in the MGIMO Law Championship

Screenshot_163.jpgThe Moscow State Institute of International Relations organized the first case championship in Russia for law students "MGIMO Law Championship" on March 2. The team from SibFU Law School was presented by the first-year master students: Anastasia Burnakina, Svetlana Fomina, and Ekaterina Kalinina in the direction of "International Public Law".

At the semifinals of the championship, the case on public international law was devoted to international maritime law: the delimitation of the continental shelf, mining, and the practice of the International Court of Justice.

The final was held in the form of a debate, where the finalists had to prepare and present a legal position based on the practice of the World Trade Organization. The teams discussed how cigarettes differ from electronic ones, whether they are "like products", and in what cases the exceptions provided in art. 20 GATT are applied.

As a result, the team from SibFU Law School took second place, and Anastasia Burnakina was recognized as the winner in the "Best Speaker" award!
