New York School

Alena Matveeva, the student of the Law Institute (specialization "International relations"), spent January and February of 2012 in New York, participating in the 'Winter school in New York'.

'Winter/Summer School in New York' project was established by the fund 'Days of Russia' (USA) and the International Youth Diplomacy League (Russia) in 2011. The school is supported by Russian Embassy in the USA, the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, International Affairs Committee of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Consulate General of Russia in New York, Russian Trade Department in the USA, Kissinger Associates, Inc, New York Mayor and the Congress Senators from the New York State.

The school is aimed to assist young specialists in acquiring knowledge in different spheres of international practice. Each session is supposed to have a new program in accordance with participants' interests. The students get familiar with working principles of international organizations, diplomatic representations, transnational corporations, legislative and executive bodies and media groups. Practicing businessmen, heads of prosperous companies, politicians, diplomats and mass media representatives share their experience with students in the framework of the organized meetings and discussions.

During the 15 days spent in New-York, Alena met the Russian Federation Consulate General's Vice-Councel S. Logachev, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation in the United Nations V. Chyrkin, Deputy Editor-in-chief in «Associated Press» Thomas Kent, as well as visited the excursions to the Federal Reserve Bank in New York, New York stock market, UN Headquarters.
