A new Federal law N 193-FZ of July 27, 2010 “On Alternative Procedure of Dispute Settlement with Participation of a Mediator (Mediation Procedure)” came into effect from January 1, 2011Since this date in Russia there has been a new legally stipulated institution – mediation procedure, as a method of dispute settlement with participation of a Mediator on the basis of voluntary consent of the parties aimed at reaching mutually acceptable decision.

Fighting against corruption – everyone`s business!27.12.2010 in the Law Institute of SFU a final meeting of Anticorruption student club of SFU in 2010 took place. Members of the club and its supporters discussed the results of project realization, that was supported by Krasnoyarsk regional fond of scientific and technical activity “Development and introduction of package on formation of stable civil anticorruption position among students of Siberian Federal University”. The decision to continue their work on main club activities in 2011was reached on the basis of the results of the grant and other activities of the club. It was a pleasant surprise for gathered people to get brochures, calendars, worksheets, pens, T-shirts, stickers and other production built-from-scratches of the winners and participants of the competition “Higher education – is not the place for corruption”.

The Zhetysu State University (republic Kazakhstan) undergraduates’ internship in the Law Institute of the SFUThe Zhetysu State University (republic Kazakhstan) undergraduates’ scientific internship was taking place in the Law Institute of the SFU from 13th to 25th of December:
The internship was devoted to two undergraduate programs: “Civil law, Family law, International private law” and “Criminal law, criminology, Criminal punishment enforcement law”. The scientific advisors were senior and associate professors of the Law Institute – the authors of the special courses on these undergraduate programs. Besides studying process, an excursion was organized for undergraduates and the head of delegation, Bolat Y. Moldabekov. The guests visited Krasnoyarsk landmarks, Hydroelectric Power Station, Kraevedchesky Museum and Astafiev’s house-museum. Also they visited the SFU’s scientific library and collected some information related to their undergraduate thesis. Also Bolat Y. Moldabekov gave a lecture on the basics of Kazakh law to the students of the Law Institute. On behalf of the Kazakh delegation Bolat Y. Moldabekov wrote an entry in the Law institute magistracy guestbook.

Rewarding teachers of the Law Institute of SFU diplomas of the Russian Lawyers' AssociationFor active participation in providing free legal assistance to the population of the Krasnoyarsk Region in terms of implementation of the projects undertaken by the Krasnoyarsk regional branch of the Association of Lawyers of Russia, Krasnoyarsk Regional Branch of the All-Russian non-governmental organization "Association of Lawyers of Russia" has awarded diplomas teachers of the Law Institute of SFU: Svetlana Yakovlevna Sorokina, Nina Feodorovna Kachur and Tatyana Petrovna Shishmarev. Representation of diplomas took place on a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the celebration of the Lawyers’ Day (on the 10th of December 2010, in the Opera and Ballet Theatre). Alexander Viktorovich Uss on behalf of the AOC LLC "Association of Lawyers of Russia" handed the diplomas.

The work on the pilot project “Academic mobility between the Law Institutes (schools) of the Russian Federation and the USA” continuesOn the 30th of November the Director of the Institute Professor I.V. Shishko and the Head of the comparative law department Associate Professor of Law I. D. Mishina met with the executives and experts of the US-Russian Fund USRF (the Fund provides support for the Russian economy, law and institutional development), as well as with the representatives of a U.S. university for further discussion of the pilot project "Academic mobility between the Law Institutes (schools) of the Russian Federation and the United States", which was proposed by the Legal Institute and the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. Participants of the meeting have clarified the content of the project and discussed the conditions of its implementation at the Law Institute of SFU and at a University of one of the USA states.
