In 2011 the Law Institute passed the social accreditation held by the Association of Lawyers of Russia.

The Association of Lawyers of Russia unites a great number of professional lawyers of different law spheres. It is comprised of practicing lawyers as well as law professors.

One of the areas of the Association’s activity is the promotion of the quality of legal education including the social accreditation of the higher schools of law. The accreditation was passed successfully and the Law Institute was recognized as the educational institution which prepares high-quality professionals in the sphere of law.

The Law Institute has passed an independent external quality assessment of the educational programs.

In 2010 the Law Institute passed the social accreditation held by the Legal Education Association. The Legal Education Association unites the leading Russian law schools. The aim of the Association is to maintain the uniform high-quality requirements of the legal education and to promote the fulfillment of the federal education standard. The accreditation confirmed that the Law Institute complies with such high standards.

International Summer Law School-2013

Since the 6th of August till 18th of August 2013 Law Institute organizes International Summer Law School-2013 (ISLS-2013). Professors from Germany, Holland and Japan will also participate in its organizing.

 

ISLS-2013:

  1. Summer academy DSG, which will be held by professors from University of Passau. Professors will give courses of lections on Criminal-Procedural Law and International Public and European Law for students of Law Institute of SFU and also for students from Irkutsk, Omsk and Tomsk.
  2. Summer Law School for German students. Professors of Law Institute of SFU and other Russian universities and also graduates from DSG will give lectures in German on the topics of Russian Law. There will be also the course of Russian Language in the framework of this program.
  3. Summer Law School in English for students of Law Institute of SFU and students from Japan. The program includes lections on European Convention on Human Rights, which will be given by prof. Alfred Kellermann and prof. Wybe Douma from T.M.C. Asser Instituut (Institute of International and European Law, Holland) and professor from Nagoya University (Japan).

 

ISLS-2013 also has interesting cultural program for students from Germany and Russia (excursions in Krasnoyarsk and surrounding area, visiting museums) and also meeting with judges of The Arbitration Court of Krasnoyarsk Krai.

The meeting on the copyright management

On the 23rd of May there was a meeting in Law Institute of the Siberian Federal University with Nechaev Denis Valerievich who is the Deputy Director of the Siberian branch of Russian Authors' Society. 
The meeting was devoted the issues of copyright management on a collective basis. Professors and students of the Law Institute (bachelors and masters) took part in it. 
Adoption of the fourth part of the Civil Code has significantly changed legal regulation of relations arising over intellectual property. These changes have also affected the area of the collective management of copyright. Therefore, the discussion of these issues has great practical significance and as a result it was quite interesting for the audience.
It is necessary to mention that the Russian public organization “Russian Authors' Society” is the largest organization representing and defending the interests of authors and other rights holders in Russian Federation through the collective management of copyright. It has great impact on the maintenance of law and order in the area of ​​intellectual property. Russian Authors' Society makes possible effective implementation of property copyrights. Russian Authors' Society has state accreditation for the activity in the spheres of copyright management on the collective basis, which are covered by subparagraphs 1 and 2 of paragraph 1 of Art. 1244 of the Civil Code of Russian Federation.

The team of the Law Institute of SFU represented Russia on the international rounds of competition named after Philip Jessup

Read more: The team of the Law Institute of SFU represented Russia on the international rounds of...In February 2013 the Law Institute’s team of SFU became the winner of the Russian stage Competition named after Philip Jessup, beating teams of  National Research Institute "Higher School of Economics", Moscow State University, Moscow State Law Academy and team of  Russian Academy of Justice. Being the national champions, the students of the Law Institute of SFU got a chance to represent Russia at the international stage of the competition, which was held in Washington DC (USA) from 31 March to 6 April 2013.
